Say Hello to the gorgeous South Shore Park Pavilion! This is where we will be having our wedding and reception!

This is behind the building, where we will (hopefully) be having our ceremony. The stone sculpture is the altar, we would be standing right between the two taller stones. GORGEOUS view of the lake, marina and city :)

This is the smaller of the main two rooms inside. This is how we would set up for the ceremony if it was too cold to have it outside. You can see the bar in this photo also.
If the ceremony is outside, this room will serve as the "mingling" room for the guests to hang out in after the ceremony for drinks and such.

This is the same room as the picture above, just the other side of it. The doors to the left lead into the large, main hall and the doors to the right lead into the entry way. This is how we would have the room set up for the "mingling" room.

And this is the main hall! Windows go all the way down the back wall and look out onto the water! Beautiful! This is obviously be where we would have the reception. Will most likely not have as many tables as pictured, there is plenty of space for a nice dance floor - this picture doesn't even show the whole room!

Ideas for Color Combinations

So I think this is actually one of the harder decisions to make overall - what color combination to choose?! It's hard to make many other decisions before choosing the colors...
Alan and I both know that we would like some shade of green paired with something else... here are my three favorite options that I think would go well with a Spring wedding:


Aqua, or Tiffany Blue

Purple

...and pink!

Words cannot describe how much I love this video! I originally found it the night before Penelope was born - the song is by Queen, my favorite band. I ended up having this song playing through my head while in labor - it was a nice mantra to have at the time :)

Coincidentally, Penelope's Birthday is the same day as Queen's lead singer, the late Freddie Mercury! Super fitting, right?

Primm Wedding

So I was informed that our Wedding date is actually set for the day before Easter next year! The calendar that I was using to schedule the date did not have holidays listed on it! So we've been considering changing the date, but the only other dates available for our hall are November - March... I do not particularly care to have a winter wedding!

But we think that an Easter wedding sounds like fun... for one thing, most people will have off of work and kids will have off of school. You want to be with family for Easter anyway, right? Even if we can at least get all the immediate aunts, uncles and cousins together, that's at least 100 people - which I think would be a fine turn out. I have been thinking that an Easter Brunch the next day would be fun to open wedding gifts and celebrate the holiday. We can have a bread appetizer with red wine and have an Easter egg hunt afterward :)

Also, we have been somewhat planning this wedding for a good five or six years now - all the conceptualizing that I have had has been for a summery wedding. So anything that I had in mind for a wedding wouldn't work so well with a wintery backdrop :P

We're Having a Wedding :)

Well, after being together for nearly 6 years now, Alan and I are proud to announce that we are finally having a wedding :)

We were originally married in a private courtroom wedding on June 19th, 2009 - but will now be having a more formal event - a recommitment ceremony and reception that will be held on April 23rd, 2011 at the South Shore Park Pavilion here in Milwaukee, WI!

We will be using this blog to track our journey through the wedding planning process and eventually through our marriage and family. Though we have already been through a lot together these past several years - though we have already lived together for 5 years, have been married for almost one and have a daughter together, I am officially calling this day 1.
